The CS2 guessing game
CSGuessr is a Counter-Strike 2 guessing game. In most rounds you watch a short clip from a real Premier match and guess how highly rated the player is. In the skin rounds you guess a skin or its price instead. This page explains what you guess, how a round works and how a guess is scored.
What you guess
- Ranked: the player's Premier rating bracket, out of seven.
- Higher / Lower: whether the player is rated above or below a reference rating.
- Who's Higher?: which of two players has the higher Premier rating.
- Daily Draft: the bracket of each of the same five clips everyone gets that day.
- Mystery Skin: the skin of the day, by name.
- Price Check: which of two skins costs more.
The rest of this page is about the clip guesses. The skin puzzles are on CS2 skin games.
The seven brackets
Rating guesses use the same colour bands CS2 shows for Premier rating. A bracket guess is a 5,000-point band, not an exact number.
| Bracket | Colour |
|---|---|
| 1–5k | Grey |
| 5–10k | Light blue |
| 10–15k | Blue |
| 15–20k | Purple |
| 20–25k | Pink |
| 25–30k | Red |
| 30k+ | Gold |
How a round plays out
- Watch. The clip is a real player in a real Premier game, submitted by the community and checked by a moderator before it goes live.
- Read. Crosshair placement, movement, utility, positioning, trades and what they do under pressure all tell you something.
- Guess and lock. Pick a bracket (or Higher, Lower, A or B) and lock it in. You can change your pick until you lock.
- See the answer. The clip's bracket appears with your rating change. The exact rating stays on the server.
How guesses are scored
Your CSGuessr score is your CS Rating, which starts at 5,000. In Ranked a guess is scored by how far off it was:
| Ranked guess | CS Rating |
|---|---|
| The right bracket | +100 |
| One bracket off | +65 |
| Further off | −30 to −90 |
A miss within 7,500 of the real rating costs −30. Further off it costs −40 at 5,000, growing to −90 at 30,000, so big misses hurt more as your rating climbs.
Higher / Lower and Who's Higher? are yes-or-no calls: +24 when you are right and −14 when you are not. The Daily Draft uses points instead of rating: 1,000 for the right bracket, 600 for one off, 250 for two off and 0 beyond that, so a perfect day is 5,000.
Difficulty and progression
There are no difficulty settings. What makes it hard is the clips themselves: a 12k player can hit a clean spray, and a 25k player can whiff. Ranked rewards consistent reads across many clips, while the bigger misses cost more as your rating climbs, so a high CS Rating is hard to fake. The leaderboard shows the all-time top 100, and a weekly board resets every Monday at 00:00 UTC.
Start guessing
Open Ranked to start. Your first five rounds across all modes need no name; after that a guest name takes one step. For the full list of modes, see CS2 minigames. If Premier ratings are what interest you most, the Premier rating guessing game explains how the rating side works.
Questions
Is it hard to guess a CS2 rank from a clip?
Yes, and that is the point. One bracket off still scores +65 in Ranked, so a close read is rewarded. How to guess a CS2 rank from a clip has tips.
Can I see the exact rating after a guess?
No. Results show the clip's bracket. The exact number stays private so the clip can be guessed fairly by everyone else.
Does the same clip come back?
The game serves clips you have not seen yet and only starts over once you have seen them all. In Higher / Lower, a clip whose answer you have already seen does not change your rating.
